Sensex ends 166 points lower Nifty under 5,835,Today Indian Stock Market Overview

Indian Stock Market BSE Sensex began the October series on a weak note and closed over 175 points down, Today 30-share index Sensex ended at 19,727.27, down 166.58 points or 0.84 per cent. It touched a high of 19,981.57 and a low of 19,674.38 in trade and Nifty closed at 5,833.20, down 49.05 points or 0.83 per cent. The index touched intraday high of 5,909.20 and a low of 5,819.30.

Today in market Banks, metals, realty, capital goods and power stocks dragged the market down today; these sectoral indices fell between 1-2 percent. Banks shares have fallen since morning trade on concerns over their non-performing loans. India's largest lenders State Bank of India and ICICI Bank tumbled 2 percent each followed by HDFC Bank with 1.8 percent loss and Bank stocks Yes Bank, Kotak Mahindra Bank, SBI, ICICI Bank, Bank of Baroda, HDFC Bank, IndusInd Bank, Bank of India, Union Bank breakaway from 4.25 to 1 per cent.

In Intarnational Market Asian markets finished mixed as of the most recent closing prices. The Hang Seng gained 0.35% and the Shanghai Composite rose 0.20%. The Nikkei 225 lost 0.26%.European markets are lower today with shares in London off the most. The FTSE 100 is down 0.80% while France's CAC 40 is off 0.27% and Germany's DAX is lower by 0.25%.
