Today Sensex is closed 404.48 points or 2.25 percent at 18401., and the Nifty close up 124.05 points or 2.35 percent at 5409.05. today BSE Sensex rallied over 400 points on the last day of August series expiry.


The 50-share broader index Nifty also rallied over 2% to trade above its key psychological level of 5,400.The Reserve Bank of India's move to provide forex swap window to meet daily dollar needs of PSU oil marketing companies provided support to Indian rupee against the US dollar.

NSE & BSE Gainers - Muthoot Finance, Sesa Goa, National Alumini, RelianceCommu.Ltd, Bharat Forge,Kotak Mahindra Bank, HDFC, Lupin Ltd., Hindalco Indus.

NSE & BSE Losers - PNB, Coal India Ltd, UltraTech Cement,SBI,DLF Ltd,Adani Power Ltd,IDBI Bank Ltd,Gitanjali Gems,Pipavav Defence.

In International market Asian markets finished mixed as of the most recent closing prices. The Nikkei 225 gained 0.91% and the Hang Seng rose 0.84%. The Shanghai Composite lost 0.19%.European markets are higher today with shares in London leading the region. The FTSE 100 is up 0.43% while France's CAC 40 is up 0.25% and Germany's DAX is up 0.14%.
